TIME OF REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY AT THE CAPITOL

Members of the NJ State Society, including one of its honorary directors, Rep. Leonard Lance, and staffers from the offices of Representatives Smith and Garrett, greeted 23 New Jersey families of fallen soldiers at the Time of Remembrance Ceremony September 26. These brave fallen soldiers are among the 88 lost in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001. The ceremony honored the sacrifices of the families with special tributes from high ranking military officers, Ross Perot and actor Kevin Bacon

NATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL
On the same day, the NJ State Society and the New Jersey Center for the Book cohosted our state's booth at the National Book Festival on the Mall. NJSS members joined with NJ Center for the Book and Junior League volunteers to greet thousands of families who came by the table to have their state maps stamped and pick up their bookmarks and other items intended to encourage children and adults to read. Over 100,000 people attended this year's festival in spite of the rain.More information is available at National Book Festival
